Russia is a very large country, in fact the largest in the world.  It is situated in the easternmost part of East Europe.  It is surrounded by both land and sea.  From its northern to the south eastern region of the country, it is surrounded by the Barents Sea, Bering Sea, Sea of Okhotsk and Sea of Japan.  It is located south of the Arctic Ocean.  Independent European nations that can be found bordering western Russia are Finland, Ukraine, and Poland.  Asian countries to its south are Kazakhstan, Mongolia and China.  Russia is divided into several cities and regions: Central Russia, Northwestern Russia, Chernozemye, Siberia, Kaliningrad Oblast, Russian Far East, Urals Region, Southern Russia and Volga Region.  Russian cities of Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Sochi, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Irkutsk, Kazan, Vladivostok and Volgograd are all unique in their own way and offers plenty of attractions and activities for visitors to these places.

Russia's historical periods includes the early period of first settlers and the remains, Kievan Rus, Grand Duchy of Moscow, Tsardom of Russia, Imperial Russia, Soviet Russia and the Russian Federation.  Russia's economy is supported by major industries of natural resources which includes natural gas and oil.  Despite its development in modern technology, basic agriculture plays a crucial role in its export industry.  It is also abundant in natural gas, as well as in  oil reserves and coal.  It is not surprising that the nuclear power plant was first built in Russia.

There are over a hundred and fifty ethnic groups within the country, speaking a total of over a hundred languages which includes Russian, Tatar, Ukrainian and Slavic language.  Religion is also an important part of the culture and tradition of Russians.  Orthodox Christians are the majority, but there are also large groups of Buddhists, Judaists and Islamists.

There are a multitude of tourist attractions all over Russia.  The country’s history spans over centuries and each region has its fair share of lengthy historical eras.  The most impressive architectural establishments include churches and cathedrals, such as: the Saint Basil's Cathedral, St. Julian's Church, St. Hyacinth's Church, and more.  Museums are also impressive and are highly recommended for tourists to explore.  They include the Pushkin Museum, Marble Palace, Tretyakov Gallery, Russian Museum, Moscow Museum, Hermitage Museum, Menshikov Palace, Kunstkamera, etc.  Russia has a total population of almost 150 million inhabitants.  Most impressive however, is the known fact that Russia has a very long list of billionaires.  They include Alisher Usmanov, Vladimir Lisin, Alexei Mordashov, Vladimir Potanin, Mikhail Fridman, etc.  Steel, telecom and investments are such billion dollar industries.

Russia offers a unique experience to the taste buds.  The cuisine is unique, and foods are very particular to the area.  They include Pelmeni, Schi, Olivier, Shashlyk, Golubtsy, Okorshka, etc.  Arts and crafts have also been very popular among tourists for their high quality and tasteful designs.  Recommended purchases includes military greatcoats, hard cheese, sparkling wine, ushanka, chocolate, matryoshka, caviar, honey, skin care products, and so on.  Russians are very particular about their language and it might be incredibly useful for tourists to learn some of the language before visiting the country.
